The directory was created to help corporate buyers of cloud computing services shop and compare. We are listing only services that are suitable for business to use in running full-featured applications in a cloud environment. It does not include the many cloud-based applications on the market, such as hosted email, and storage.

We organized the directory into 4 major categories to make it easier to match services with your needs. But there is a plenty of overlap among the categories. That's partly because the industry is still evolving and terms are not set in stone. But it's also because many of these services provide a wider range of features than others.

Here is how we break them down.

• IaaS -- Infrastructure as a Service. Services listed in the SaaS directory provide everything needed to manage a cloud deployment. These offerings include servers, storage, network access, automated backup services, configuration management tools and dynamic scaling. IaaS is generally speaking a combination of hosting with PaaS. Some of the services listed here are limited to a specific PaaS architecture while some vendors offer a choice of platform.Directory listings.
• PaaS -- Platform as a Service.. A software architecture that manages the cloud, providing the necessary resource allocation and dynamic scaling needed in order to run applications. Some PaaS vendors provide infrastructure services, too, but this directory is intended to identify only true cloud platforms. Some PaaS vendors allow you to choose the infrastructure and others do not. Directory listings.
• SaaS -- Software as a Service.
  The SaaS directory lists only development environments that can be used to build, manage and deliver SaaS services over a cloud platform. Some of these platforms are available for installation on a private cloud while others run only on a third-party host. Directory listings.
• Cloud Admin. Applications that provide management and administration services for controlling a cloud installation; for security management and data migration. Directory listings.
